The 1964 BLACK BASSMAN 2.0 Pack is based on a rare Fender® Bassman featuring blonde Tolex and a black faceplate, produced shortly before Fender® transitioned to the Blackface era.
This vintage amp takes pedals exceptionally well and delivers everything from funky cleans and warm Strat tones to ’80s chorus sounds and edge-of-breakup tones inspired by players like John Mayer and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
DIGITAL DOWNLOAD – you will need a KEMPER® in order to use those sounds!
ABOUT THE PROFILES
I’m a sucker for edge-of-breakup sounds, so when my friend Timo Fritz was kind enough to lend me his vintage Bassman, I spent a lot of time getting to know the amp and pairing it with different overdrive pedals. The amp is super clean at lower volumes but once you push it past 4-5, it gradually starts to break up nicely.
Not only does it sound amazing, it also looks really sick with the black front panel and the blonde tolex, however it’s a Brownface 6G6-B Bassman from the transition era. The black front panel inspired the name for the pack. After testing a wide range of pedals, I selected the six that sounded best to me and created profiles with each of them.
I also profiled each setup through three different speakers, giving you the option to choose the flavor that works best for your guitar and playing style.
To my ears, the EVM12L is the softest and smoothest, the V30 is the most direct, while the Greenback sits somewhere right in between.

PRODUCT DETAILS
All profiles were captured using two Shure© SM57 and a Royer© R-121.
Every sound has its own optimized mic position and mic balance. Only high-end equipment was used in order to create the profiles.
All profiles feature effects settings, including delay, reverb, boosters, and more.
These sounds were matched using a modern Strat, mostly with single-coil pickups. I especially love using them in positions 2 and 4 of a five-way Strat switch.
These are Kemper® profile files. A Kemper® Profiler (MK1, MK2, or Player) is required. No audio files, impulse responses, or plugin versions are included.
